Exhibit Poster

Inspiration: Smithsonian Castle

I created this sample poster for the exhibit inside the Smithsonian Castle, titled “A Castle of Curiosities.” The exhibit details the history of the building – the first Smithsonian structure to be completed in 1855 – and thus I borrowed from its church-like exterior to inspire my design choices.

Starting Points

  • Historical photo of Smithsonian Castle

  • Gothic-style font

Process & Goals

  • Brand awareness: making viewers aware of the exhibit inside the castle via imagery and font choice, while also remaining true to the Smithsonian Institution’s simple yet bright color palette and logos
